Post Conference Happenings

Missions
Much has been going on in the FPC EM family. The study and small groups on Ephesians has ended, and now we are in the midst of a new series on missions. Hearing the testimonies of the KCM short-termers (Christina, Justin, and Mike), Pastor Steve Jin, and Missionaries Rocky and Joy, has encouraged, inspired, and taught us much about God’s sovereignty, his heart for the lost, and the power of the Gospel in kingdom-purposed lives. A few Sundays ago, some people visited Saddleback Church to hear the heavenly man himself, Brother Yun, share personal stories of how God has worked in his life to spread the Gospel. More and more, God is teaching us of his higher ways and of our purpose in life as missional bearers of the good news.

Soul 2 Soul
To start applying what we learned and committed to during the conference, the college group has started meeting on Friday nights for Soul 2 Soul. Soul 2 Soul is a time for collegians to open our hearts, be vulnerable, spiritually converse, and minister to one another. The goal of Soul 2 Soul is not for collegians to share only on Friday nights during a set time, but rather, as we begin to practice sharing our souls intentionally, we will strive to minister to one another whenever we are together. We have had two meetings so far, which have been intimate and new. It’s a learning process as we strive to nurture each other towards love and good deeds.

Freshmen Welcoming
The freshmen have officially joined EM! Welcome David, Donbi, Lola, Mike, Raymond, Sami, Susan, Suntae, and Tiffany! Last Thursday, the college group had a welcoming barbeque for our dear freshman. We got to know the freshmen better, as they shared their likes, hobbies, testimonies, concerns, and anticipations, and we also got to pray for them. It will be exciting to see how God will transform and mature the freshmen!

Tentmakers
The young adults have met a few times to discuss how they can minister to one another effectively. Called the Tentmakers, this group comprises of brothers and sisters who have graduated college. The Tentmakers will focus on how to encourage one another in areas such as how to be effective witnesses in the work field and how to invest in heavenly matters with their finances, among other topics. There will be a concentrated effort in building unity within the group as well. Hopefully now, when people graduate college, instead of a wistful nostalgia of the “good old days of higher education,” there will be an eager expectancy of more growth and passion as a Tentmaker!

But I'd rather be a history maker.

Or something.
