What has been going on at FPC?

Read and you will see...

In November, there was an Urbana offering collection to support our members who are going to Urbana. The members of our body demonstrated generously the importance of spiritual investments for the kingdom. Please pray for the 16 members who will be attending Urbana this year – that they will be convicted of God’s heart for all the nations and that they would respond with obedience, action, and joy.

After the budget-planning meeting, there was a clear direction towards using our budget to minister to the world. To start ministering to our neighboring community, we decided to start taking action in 3 ways:

1. Help out at the nearby Armory (January)
2. Get connected to Fullerton’s Chamber of Commerce and see what the needs of the city are (Amy has gotten in touch with the city)
3. Have a neighborhood BBQ to get to know our neighbors on West Street (January 20)

Please pray that as we begin to interact with our neighbors and realize what their needs are, that we will be led by the Spirit to lovingly and powerfully minister to them.

Regarding Amy’s visit to the Chamber of Commerce, here is an update of what happened, in her own words:

The check-giving "ceremony" was great. We had $2000 extra in our budget so Roy asked me to email someone from the Fullerton Chamber of Commerce and he contacted several non-profits in Fullerton saying there was an anonymous donor. In the end, after receiving more than a dozen replies, Roy and I decided on Faith's Hope Foundation, an organization that helps people as they take care of family members who are hospitalized. They don't pay for hospital bills, but they pay for other expenses (rent, food, transportation, monthly bills) so that families don't go into bankruptcy during this emotionally and financially difficult time. The founders are a Christian couple who had a daughter, Faith, who was born with down syndrome and a congenital heart disease. During this hardship, they met other families who lost everything (home, cars, etc) or were about to. Marcus, the founder, gave us their testimony and it was amaaazing. Both were convicted that God wanted them to start this non-profit/ministry and when he asked God why him, He said because others had said "no" to His call. Their story of faith was truly inspiring, encouraging, and humbling. Their daughter is now 7 and they've helped over 100 families nationwide. They say that God has really orchestrated everything and it's plainly true. I hope our church has enough selflessness to get involved with their ministry. He said we could volunteer to comfort families in need, through prayer, helping out with any non-financial burden they have, such as mowing their lawn or cooking them dinner. Wouldn't that be beautiful?

Finally, the English-speaking pastoral staff is drafting by-laws for our church. Please pray for wisdom.
